This recipe is my version of the ever so popular “Holy Crap” cereal which, if you’ve ever bought it before, you’ll know is well overpriced yet sooooo easy to make on your own! The standard ingredients are the chia, hemp and buckwheat and then feel free to add whatever dried fruit, nuts , seeds, etc. you like best. I’m going to try adding raw cacao nibs to my next batch!
Ingredients:
1 Cup Organic Chia Seeds
1 Cup Raw Hemp Hearts
1 Cup Organic Buckwheat Groats
1/2 Cup Unsulphured Shredded Coconut
1/2 Cup Chopped Raw Almonds (for optimum nutrient absorption, soak over night and then dry before use)
1/2 Cup Dried Organic Cranberries
1 TBSP Organic Cinnamon
Directions:
Add all ingredients to an airtight glass jar and shake the crap out of it until well mixed 🙂
To prepare the cereal, mix about 4 TBSP of the mixture with about 8 TBSP of the liquid of your choice to soften it up. Some good options are almond or coconut milk or yogurt or, if you eat dairy, you can try organic, non-homogenized yogurt or kefir with it. Mix well and let it soak for 5-15min depending on how crunchy you would like it. I sometimes add a dash of vanilla extract and usually mix in some fresh fruit when it’s ready…a very satisfying and yummy way to start the day and is also a nutrient dense additive to your favourite smoothie!

This recipe has become my breakfast staple! I find it very substantial, delicious and usually keeps me till lunch and sometimes beyond, depending on how busy I am. Thanks Randi (:
