Green Smoothie

Need some extra energy to get you going in the morning? Forget about coffee and try a green smoothie! Not only does it taste great, but it’s quick, easy and the densely packed nutrients this drink contains will keep you going much longer than a caffeine fix. Kid friendly, mother approved!

Ingredients:

1/2 head organic kale
1 cup filtered water
1 cup organic blueberries
1 small banana
3 medjool dates
1 tablespoon organic virgin coconut oil
2 tablespoons hemp hearts

Directions:

If you have a crappy blender like I do, you’ll want to blend the kale and water together first until smooth(ish!). Add the remaining ingredients and blend well. Using frozen blueberries will help reduce the foam created by the kale and will also give a more “milk shake” like texture. Using slightly frozen kale will also produce a much smoother texture…perfect for beginners! If you have a high powered blender like a vitamix or blendtec, just add all ingredients as listed and blend away!

Feel free to experiment with other kinds of fruits and dark leafy greens, as well as adding things like ground flax seeds, spirulina, chlorella or a high quality fish oil.
