Whole grain Porridge

1 cup oat groats
1 cup soft wheat berries
1 cup spelt berries
1 cup kumut berries
1 cup rye berries
1 cup farro (not pearled)
1 cup barley (not pearled)

Mix grains together and keep in airtight container to be used as needed

2 cups whole grain mixture
6 cups water
1 teaspoon unrefined sea salt

For each bowl:

1/2 cup cooked grains
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 cup sliced strawberries*
handful slivered almonds*
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup (optional)

Heat water and salt in a large pot over high heat and bring to a boil. Rinse grains and add to boiling water. Resume boil and reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer about 45-60 min, until grains are soft. Remove from heat and make each bowl as per the ingredients above. Store remaining grains in fridge and reheat as needed on stovetop with a little added water.
*Feel free to use any variation of fruit, nuts and seeds or add unsweetened shredded coconut if desired. Can also add a milk of your choice (i.e. coconut, almond, rice, soy, goat, cow) orΒ  kefir or yogurt for added creaminess.

*Don’t feel you need to use all the grains at once. Please use any combinations you like or even have a single grain Porridge!
